STAY SAFE IN THE SUN, OUTINGS AND SAFE PACKED LUNCHES
Stay Safe in the Sun
Children should always be protected from strong sunlight.
Please help us by ensuring your child has: a hat that shades the face and provides protection for the neck, and high-factor sunscreen applied before arriving at the club. Sunscreen is available to reapply during the day if needed — please show your child how to apply it themselves.
Activities
We have a number of activities for the children to be involved in, some consist of messy activities i.e. painting, material gluing or cast plastering. All our arts and craft materials are designed for use by children; there is always the possibility when participating in these activities that some damage to clothing may occur. We suggest a cautious approach in the choice of clothing worn by children attending the scheme. Craft activities aren't compulsory!
Visits & Outside Providers
Luton Caribbean Cricket Club, Mel's Magic, and Safari Stu provide an educational hands-on close encounter experience with a variety of animals. The Raptor Foundation rescues, rehabilitates and returns injured native birds of prey back to the wild. Theatre Train Royston offer practical, engaging performing arts training for children and young people — using a theatre-centred programme, students aren't just entertained, they're inspired and taught the core elements of dance, acting and singing. Football Skills Camp (10am–3pm) is run by Stefan Bailey, an ex-professional footballer who made his professional debut towards the end of the 2004/05 season at age 17, coming off the bench for Queens Park Rangers in a Championship match away to Sheffield United, and went on to share the stage with players including Paul Ince, Ashley Young and Gareth Bale.
Packed Lunches
Children will require suitable footwear and clothing, a waterproof jacket, packed lunch and water bottle.
We cannot store packed lunches in the fridge, so ice packs are essential. The same rules apply as they do in school — please do not include chocolate bars (e.g. Mars, Twix, etc.), though chocolate biscuits such as Oreos or chocolate chip biscuits are acceptable. Please do not include sweets, and to ensure the safety of all children, please avoid any nut products as we are a Nut Free Zone. Please provide drinks in a carton or sports bottle — glass bottles, fizzy drinks and energy drinks are not permitted. You may also provide an afternoon snack to accompany the fruit we provide; choose a variety of nutritious foods and avoid items high in sugar, and please include at least one portion of fruit and/or vegetables in your child's packed lunch.
Please let Leonie know your child's dietary requirements, especially if your child is booked in on a day we are cooking.
Ice Cream Van
The ice cream van arrives at about 1.30pm — £3.00 cash on the day.
Handheld Devices and Technology
For health and safety reasons, all handheld devices and technology must be fully charged before attending the club. Charging cables, chargers and portable power banks are not permitted at the club and must be left at home.
Only fill in the days your child is attending — leave every other day completely blank. For days you are booking, tick Early Bird if needed and fill in the Drop off/Collection time underneath.
